Start with the system of record
- Where do orders, product facts, stock availability and accounting entries originate?
- Which events should move between Shopify and the ERP, and in which direction?
- How are duplicates, retries, refunds and failures identified and reconciled?
- Which controls are needed before AI can read or act on enterprise data?
A custom ERP may be justified in some businesses, but its cost, ownership, maintenance and delivery time require a separate assessment. No fixed time or cost advantage over established ERP software is implied.
