Codified Commerce previously explored “Algorithm as a Service” as a way to explain structured AI execution on Shopify. The useful insight remains: merchants do not need more AI output; they need a controlled way to turn reasoning into a validated commerce outcome. The commercial model, however, has evolved.
What changed
The older AaaS framing treated individual algorithms as products. That becomes too narrow once a Shopify objective can involve themes, product data, APIs, enterprise systems, content, advertising, AI and human review at the same time.
The current unit is therefore not “one algorithm.” It is one purchased CAT AI Automation. CAT AI determines the next useful action from the customer's goal and evidence; the customer need not define a technical outcome before buying.
The current operating model
Codified Algorithmic Thinking™ now governs six stages:
- Define the objective and success criteria.
- Decompose the dependencies, data, risks and decisions.
- Orchestrate Shopify-native tools, AI, apps, APIs and human roles.
- Execute the controlled change.
- Validate behaviour, data integrity and acceptance criteria.
- Learn from the result before deciding what should change next.
Where algorithms still matter
Algorithms remain useful patterns inside the framework. A Shopify Flow rule may use trigger-condition-action logic. An AI classifier may use a structured decision policy. A custom integration may encode deterministic mappings and retry logic. But none of those execution patterns alone is the complete CAT framework.
Why this matters in the AI era
AI reduces the cost of producing code, content, analysis and configuration. That makes the bottleneck less about generating work and more about deciding which work is correct, safe and commercially useful.
The value chain becomes: problem definition → architecture → AI orchestration → implementation → human validation → measurement → next decision.
The current Codified Commerce model
One CAT AI Automation starts at ₹10,000 for Boost; higher speeds are available, and the selected price is paid in full. The customer shares a business goal and required access; CAT AI uses Machine Experience, Moving Target and Next Product Move to identify, run and close the next feasible action with Codified Commerce expert management. Monthly or weekly subscriptions provide one Automation per billing cycle. Explore CAT AI Automations.
After implementation, Moving Target observes relevant signals. When the evidence supports another change, the next action follows a new purchase or the next subscription cycle, subject to the permissions and material approvals needed. Where the signal is about product or offer direction, Next Product Move provides the consulting layer.
So the core idea survives, but the model is broader: not Algorithm as a Service, but controlled agentic commerce implementation governed by CAT.
